Stop Weyerhaeuser Housing Development in Livermore - Now to Nov, 2005

Opposition is mounting to stop Weyerhaeuser from passing a ballot initiative that would allow them to build a 2450 model tract housing development of uniform homes in Livermore by changing the city's urban growth laws.

If built, the homes will add 38,000 car trips in the area per day, causing additional pollution and traffic congestion; put an added burden on Livermore already-struggling schools, parks, fire and police, and impinge upon Livermore's growing reputation as a major wine and agricultural destination as fertile land is replaced with housing tracts.

In addition, Weyerhaeuser's homes are made with endangered wood products. Weyerhaeuser's logging practices are destroying ecosystems, endagering species, ruining local rural economies and violating indigenous rights.

Stop this development; Stop this destruction. If you live in the area, get involved. Go to or call: 925 447 8901.
